What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and why does it matter?

Search Engine Optimisation (also known as SEO) is the process of improving a websites ranking within search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.

You may have spent a lot of time and money on making your website very appealing to your target market but what use is this if no-one knows your website exists?  With more and more people (including companies) using search engines to find the service they are looking for and the fact that very few look further than the front page of search engines it is getting highly important to ensure that your website is on the front page.  This cannot be done without Search Engine Optimisation.

There are many ways to increase your SEO, including writing articles, blogging, updating the content on your website regularly and creating backlinks.

What are backlinks and how can they help with SEO?

Backlinks are when other websites add a link back to your website.  This helps with Search Engine Optimisation because it shows sites such as Google that your website is worth visiting.  If lots of people told you to buy a certain product or visit a certain shop, you are more likely to, right?  Well, this works the same way.

When using backlinks for SEO purposes you need to firstly ensure that they are one-way backlinks preferably on a site with a high PR.

Search Engine Optimisation is a long and ongoing process which is why other companies come to  businesses like ours to work on their SEO for them.
